Yes, every spring.
By saying Catfish do you mean Channel Cats or are you improperly including Bullhead in that? They are in the same family but different genus and species of fish.
Take the kids all the time out for cat fish.

They are actually the main species I fish for in the spring, actually even into August in some streams. TC

We used to target Cat fishing specifically in the spring for Bullheads. They make delicious fillets from cold water. My thumb took a beating from holding their mouth open! Channels Cats are bigger but not as tasty for me. However, nowadays we don't turn down the occasional by-catch of either though ..
