Default $27 million settlement for George Floyd's family

    Well that'll set a precedent....

A $27 million settlement to the family of George Floyd has been unanimously approved by Minneapolis' City Council.

This case is going to be something when it is all settled - first of all George was high on dope - he complained about not being able to breath when they were trying to get him into the police car - the cop's lawyer is claiming that the cop did not kill him but rather the over dose of drugs did - the prosecutor was going to try the cop for man slaughter and 2nd degree murder but now realizes that a jury after hearing what happened may not convict the cop of those charges so he is talking of adding 3rd degree murder - one thing all these similar cases have one in common - the victims were all law abiding upstanding citizens without any criminal record - the stupid cop cost the taxpayers of that city a lot of money - I predict that the cop will not be convicted of anything but being stupid and then the riots will start again -

I'd hate to be a cop in the states if the officers are acquitted. There will be a bloodbath right across the nation. Sure going to be interesting.

I'm pretty sure Joe's being facetious... a tongue in cheek comment

The cops are almost always cleared of these charges because the truth comes out in court, but the 'racialized' pubic has already convicted the cops in the courts of public opinion.

This size of settlement, even before the cop goes on trial, sets a whole new slant on 'death by cop' suicides. It's going to be a bumpy ride for LEO's across the states for the next few years, hope they're all wearing body cams, their only hope.

Criminal record or not, the cops actions speak for themselves.

I dare say the one cops “criminal” record ( 20 complaints of brutality?) screams far louder than a petty thief. Who even after becoming VSA, was left to lie in the pavement like a piece of offal, without the barest human decency to render aid by the same. Not even a fake, half hearted effort for the audience and cameras on scene. Talk about a “smoking gun”....

Some will see it as murder, some not. But if both their records were allowed in court...

For me anyways, this is definitely an occasion when I am against tax payers bailing out Leo that cross the line. Lots of other professionals don’t have that luxury, and carry liability insurance

It will be interesting to say the least. It will boil down to the PM results and cause. I would not want to be a juror for that trial!
