Hen house question

I built and put out 6 delta style hen houses last spring. No nesting action in any of them. I suspect the material I used to fill them wasn't what the hens wanted.
What is the best material to use that I can find now in Ontario to spruce them up?

I'm thinking a simple bale of straw should do the trick. Might want to PM this member for more info
