    Default shotgun ID and info

So came into possession of a couple of shotguns and was wondering if anyone could ID them and give me an estimated value for them.
Info on them is sparse as the 90 year old hunter couldn't recall much about them.

The first has some markings indicating its a 3" 12g magnum Belgium, Janssen Fils& co Liege

The other has even less markings that I could find. On the butt plate there is a Logo Pirrelli ?

    So any insight?

Pirelli refers to the rubber company that made the butt pad - same logo as on their tires.

Look like a couple “hardware store” Belgians to me. Not worth a lot IMO. Are they fluid steel?

No idea. The owner, who's 90, will let his Pal expire at the end of the month and has no heirs to pass 'em on. Gonna store then for him until he decides what to do with them. Interest in a value as might offer him something for them.

I also offered to store a couple guns for someone who was an executor of a friends estate who had the guns. She wanted to get her license and use the guns, that was 4 years ago and she still has not done anything.

Hopefully you do not need the room, these things always take longer than you think.

Are you a member on CGN? There are a lot more people on there and a lot of knowledge too.

No not a member not really into guns other then hunting with them. Lots of room in the safe so that's not an issue. Used to be you could go down to the local gun shop for swaps and trades but they seem to have all disappeared. Trying to fiqure out a fair market price for him so if I do keep them can offer something. The 3" would make a nice turkey gun and the other a suitable pheasant gun over the setters if I were to feel nostalgic. They got to be some 60 year old guns.

I have a double barrel "Jansen and Sons" that looks very similar. Mine says "Damascus Finish" but mine has double mule ear hammers, unlike yours which are internal.

Pop me a PM if you want and I can ask them some question on CGN.

12ga 3" came out in 1935 so that gun cannot be actually that old, when you think about how old guns could be.

Rough math He's 90 bought new in his 20's makes the gun a 60 ish however wasn't heavy into hunting he says so hasn't seen alot of work. Its a hunting gun so does have alot of character ingrained in the wood and metal.
Would love to pm you details however got none just the ramblings of an aged hunter

You never really know, I was told my grandfather was offered "any new shotgun on the rack" for his 1897. Well, when he died that gun had no butt plate, the stock was split in a few places. It was so badly taken care of that it was frozen and was broken internally. I told my uncles after doing a little googling before I took it home that it was worth $250 or less in the condition it was in and that he should have traded it in for a new one back in the day, ha ha. Cost me more to fix the dang thing than it was worth when I got it, but a 32in barrel and made in 1929, just need to track down a stock.
