Has too much time on their hands
Very nice!
I assume you know that the .25 Stevens, especially, is very scarce and valuable.
When I first started shooting about 1968 or so, (I was about 7 years old,) we used to go to Bobby Butler's General Store outside Powassan and get Imperial .22 Long Rifle for 50 cents a box! .30-30 ammo was $4.00 or so, but we didn't use the .30-30 and there was already a box around the farm.
It's a real trip back in time to see those boxes!

Thanks. I did a little research after posting and collectors in the US are paying 150-250 for a box of 50. Another guy was saying $5-10 per shell but that seems a bit outrageous. And some guys just collect the boxes.

I think if I ever end up with a .25 Stevens I'll do what most guys do: use power nailer cartridges with small buckshot.

When we were kids we'd go to the local grocery store and ask for a box of Whiz Bangs. We never thought to ask for a box of .22's.

When we were kids it was much the same. My parents had a running charge arranged at the general store. We could walk in and ask for .22 ammo and put it on the tab. If the owner thought we were going through more than usual he might call Dad or just walk across the street to the garage that Dad worked at to confirm.

.25 and .32 stubby pistols were banned many moons back but not .25 and .32 ammunition. Consider the great 32 special, 25-06, 257 Rob etc.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?
