Turkeys in County Forests
I just spent the last few weeks scouting Dufferin and Simcoe county forest tracts and have not seen any sign of turkeys inside the county forests. I have seen turkeys on nearby farmers fields, but nothing in the county forests. Has anybody actually shot a turkey inside one of these county forest tracts? Can anybody share what to look for when scouting for turkeys there?

Gobbling.
Get yourself there before sunrise and give a listen the ears can see further than your eyes. After that sign can be harder to find. dust bowls on sunny sandy field edges, droppings under a roost tree. scratching in the forest leaves.
Time in the outdoors is never wasted

I second this. Whenever I rang out turkey calls in the afternoon while scouting bushes, I'd be met by dead silence. However when I did this at dusk and in the morning I'd get a response from the SAME area. So don't count out an area until you shoot a few calls during the best times.

And go where nobody else does, the birds know where people frequent.
