E Bikes and hunting - anyone tried it?

I just traded in my old sled and trailer and bought 2 of those fat-tire e-bikes you see advertised on some hunting sites.

WOW. Talk about fun! The fat tires let you drive almost anywhere and they are quiet as deer in the woods. I've snuck up on turkeys, ducks, deer and other critters that would have bolted at the sound of my ATV. They are great to explore back roads and trails and you get as much exercise (or as little) as you want. I have seen them advertised on hunting forums - I did not buy a crazy expensive one but wanted some entry level ones so my wife can join me on our backwoods adventures.

Wondered if anyone else has had experience with them and used them for hunting.

Never an E bike but we brought out bicycles to the camp in the summer one year, was thinking about using them during the hunt but the one guy essentially told us how stupid we were for even thinking about it ... ya, left that camp.

I watched a great video of a guy who used it for hunting deer in the Pacific Northwest. They drove along old cut roads much like you would up north looking for moose tracks. He had a neat trailer that went behind the bike they used to wheel the deer back to the truck.

Interesting concept...how heavy is the bike? what voltage battery? can it charge of your 12v cigarette lighter or does it need 120v to charge? charging time? battery usage time?

Fish-On,
Its a 48 v Lithium battery - needs 120v to charge and takes about 5hrs on "empty". If you drive in the lowest pedal assist, cruising dirt roads you can get 30k on it easily. The big mountain bike is around 70lbs. Tires are 4 inches wide! Not sure if we can post links here to business sites but I can PM you where I got it. It has a throttle like an ATV - push it when going up hills and it works great. Hope this helps answer your questions.

Got mine for just over 1500 bucks with most of the bells and whistles. (It actually does have a bell...) This video was what kinda sold me on the capabilities of the bike. This guy does a nice review on how it worked for him. https://youtu.be/gLGvD4oejEY

Id buy an Ebike if it will pull a moose out of a swamp. Til then I'll stick with my quad.

LOL. It won't pull out a moose! That's not what they're for. For deer and small game, they are pretty cool. I have heard of guys using them for moose hunting to get back to their stands quietly or to ride cut roads looking for sign. I plan on using mine to access stands and for poking around bush roads looking for grouse this fall.

It's actually a really viable option for a place like mine. It would speed up getting the 1 mile to the back 40 using the centre trail. Heck of a lot quicker than walking and quieter than the ATV. Mind you I could do probably do to the same with a fat tired mountain bike but that might get a bit sweaty inside my hunting coveralls, the E-assist would be better.

Something to ponder.
