Default Got into an argument with a hen today

The gobbles started early this morning from the usual roosting area. They flew down and were moving through the valley to my back. Suddenly just around legal shooting I heard a loud crash bang fly down probably 50 yards behind me.

All of a sudden this hen starts calling aggressively and moving through the lowlands. Every gobbler in the area was going crazy for her and and I could hear were gobbles and crashing through the woods. She must have had a bunch of gobblers following her. I imitated her aggressive calling and her calls became more and more aggressive as if she was becoming agitated. We went back and forth for 10-15min and she started to sound like she was making her way up the ridge.

I let off the calls and listened for a while. Just to my left I could hear scratching and stomping. Peaked out the side window of the blind and a tom is coming in hot.

I let him beat on the jake decoy a little while with hopes he’d bring a bigger bird in or start mating the submissive hen decoy. I suddenly got this image of him getting bored and turning his attention back to that hen in the valley (she was still yapping away), so I pulled the trigger.

It’s a Gopro. They have limited battery life, especially when using wifi for remote controlling, so I set them up and press record before legal shooting and just let them roll. Edit out what I don’t need, but recording that early you can hear the woods come alive and exactly when the gobbling starts.

It is plugged in to a portable usb battery bank. I think this one is 10000mah. With 2 cameras plugged into the same bank it’ll keep them charged long enough to record until their sd cards are full. With 64gb cards, that’s roughly 6.5 hours on the recording settings I use.

that is awesome, ive been looking at the gopros recently, they are worth a pretty buck but the quality and convenience seems like a worthwhile purchase. especially if you can get shots like this! LOL
