So it's taken over a year - but the great minds in the health industry are finally coming around to the same conclusions that the people I know with healthcare back grounds (ER and remote healthcare nurses) were telling me a year ago.

The vaccines are only about 90-95 percent effective. Most other vaccines - flu aside - are 100%.
So I'm not sure what you're objecting to her statement.

covid-19 will become (maybe already has) endemic and we will need to get used to living with it.
Same as we have become used to living with flu.
Trump was more right than wrong when he dismissed covid as being "just another flu".
It's a nasty one, highly contagious and more lethal than what we were used to - but it is "just another flu".
It won't be contained or eradicated - anyone thinking that is delusional.
The plan now should be to move forwards with how to live in a world with covid-19.
- maybe yearly vaccines for variants
- protection of the vulnerable
- staying at home when you are sick

Sort of the same stuff we were doing before for the flu. Strange eh?
What is a good plan now would have been a good plan in March 2020.

What we do know now is that lockdowns are costly and inneffective. A trendy perk for the whitecollar work-force.
Masks are largely ineffective in protecting the wearer because c-19 is airborne.
Hand sanitizers are largely ineffective because c-19 is airborne.

The reason we didn't go hog-wild with lockdowns, masks and hand sanitizer when we had flue to deal with is that they are not really that effective, and they are no more effective with c-19 than they are with flu.
So once the media and politicians let the hype die down, Canada will revert back to dealing with C-19 similar to dealing with flue.

The "vaccines" do nothing to stop transmission. You still get COVID, it's just that your body begins to fight it right away, before it has a chance to embed itself in your body ... which is why the main point is you don't get as sick, and don't die from it.

If you get COVID, there's going to be a period where you are infectious ... you cannot stop that.

The point is to vaccinate people so if they get it, they aren't really getting all that sick, and now we are into the "normal cold" scenario.

But after being vaccinated ... here's the catch ... the government SHOULD treat this like it is the normal cold, because the majority of the population will never really get really sick from it anymore ... so if these shut downs carry on ... then it's pure BS.

As in an adverse effect from the vaccine, or they got COVID so bad that they had to go to ICU?
If it's the latter ... that is insane ... it basically means that the vaccine is not effective at all.
How do I come up with that? If let's say 50% of the ICU population was not vaccinated, and the other 50%
was vaccinated ... it means the vaccine does nothing to change the number .... you have an equal chance
of getting really sick from the virus (especially right now where roughly 50% of the Ontario population has
had at least their first shot).
