Default what type of bird did i see?

was turkey hunting today, i seen a bird in the field.

looked the same size if not maybe a little bigger than a turkey, i was a little ways out so i couldn't see its face or head clearly.

    all black

looked like it had a red stripe on each wing ?.

when it busted me it ran away into the bush like a turkey no flying?

ive tried looking it up i cannot find anything that looks like what i seen?

anyone have any guesses from what i described what it might be?

my dad said maybe turkey vulture but arent they brown in colour?

    thanks in advance like always!

Anybody have domestic turkeys in your area ?
I don't believe a Turkey vulture nor a sandhill crane would run away, unless it's injured I guess.

Turkeys come in different colour phases, like everything else. Also, it can depend on how the sun is hitting them. Running away like that is pretty indicative of a turkey.....

I’ve seen some jakes look pretty black when they slick down their feathers and the sun hits them right. Are you certain they had red wing patches? Wasn’t a reflection?
