Fisherman'a Pier is Closed
My close buddy took his new boat out of storage on last week (has never been wet) so we decided to take it for a maiden voyage (FishHawk 1750 with 115 Merc). The closest launch is Fisherman's pier and when we got there the gate was open but the guy walked out of his trailer and said the launch was closed due to COVID. He said he had no way to collect launch fees safely so the launch is closed. I asked why bother opening - you could be on your back deck enjoying your coffee? I suggested he buy a cheap birdhouse from Amazon and put it out by the launch and have people just put $15 into it and launch while you sit in your trailer and listen to your radio and drink your coffee. Anyway he mumbled something about COVID and walked away - whatever.
We go down to Pier 4 and launched there and 40 minutes later we were driving past him and waved. Getting out it was a bit busier but we managed to get out pretty quickly. The parking lot was packed and bylaw was there ticketing the idiots that are parking in the area reserved for vehicle and trailer only.
I have to say when we left the launch was a complete S*&^%T show. People putting in on both sides, not moving their boat back after you launch to make room for the next guy and being completely oblivious to people waiting in line, and those damn jet skiers. After watching this I am so glad I paid for a private launch for Erie so I do not need to deal with this crap when I go fishing.
So beware.......LaSalle is closed, Fisherman's Pier is closed leaving only Pier 4 open for business
