Frank, i've killed alot of birds when the wheat is just tall enough to cover their body, you don't even need the decoy. I just pick a line which looks like I'm just going to skirt the bird by 20 yards and they usually sit put thinking your going to walk past them. I haven't done it in a few years but will do it if I don't have a bird down within the first couple of weeks in the season. It's a neat experience the first time.

Love this story, As I was reading it am laughing thinking this is a joke but then I realize that it isn’t. Now there will be hunters everywhere trying to crawl through fields with decoys trying the same thing. Congrats on the silly bird!

Belly crawl not necessary, decoy not necessary, just walk at them. I shot my biggest bird this way. I kind of wish this genie never left the bottle. It works too well and the thrill of calling them in is lost. I don't do it anymore. If you want to fill a tag, you can do it this way in 20 minutes. A couple of seasons back, I spent about 30 minutes filling two tags. The first time I did it, I thought it was a fluke and then I did it again the very next day and realized it wasn't.
