I've read a lot of your occasional posts, I can tell you are a knowledgeable guy.

Unfortunately the tone of a straight shooter doesn't translate well into writing, so some might take it the wrong way, which seems to be the case in a lot of these arguments on here.

5 Stages of an OOD Forum Member Who’s New to Hunting:
1 - The posting stage, where you post as much as possible sometimes without purpose
2 - The report stage, where you start becoming successful and figure “hey, I’ll post some pics”.
3 - The burned stage, when someone collects the metadata from your photo or is an overzealous internet scouter and burns you
4 - The pissed off stage, when you pick fights with anyone you can.
5 - The “I’ll post every once in a while” stage when you figure you’ll chime in to offer some advice where you feel it’s needed and somehow get called a “troll”.

I joined this forum to learn, and share, and maybe find like minded ppl/ mentors for hunting and fishing

so I am with u 100%.

referring to that specific thread. ppl are jumping on the user for wanting to hunt a specific turkey and not just anything moving !! thats very short sighted and makes ppl not want to share.

alot of angry ppl judging away from the couch here.... they all used to be good hunters I assume..

I never read anywhere where ppl were "jumping on the user" for wanting to hunt a particular turkey. He related a story and while still enjoying his days afield, seemed to be looking for a little direction on becoming successful in the future.

What I do find interesting is certain people on this forum who enjoy preaching their hunting virtues first then attempt to bait or provoke others, hoping their replies get them suspended for negative conduct. Almost like they have nothing better to do and quite childish.

Lets take a pause and reflex on how to make a more active and inclusive forum.

Dave, you are a big part of the problem. What stuck in my craw, and I suspect be2man as well is you ironically posted this “5 stages of a hunter” thing when you come off as one of the most obsessed braggers on the board with an fixation on body count. Hey, if that blows your skirt up, fine with me. Just don’t preach from a tall horse.

Your behaviour is not exclusive to OOD either. Your irritating posts rub people on other boards as well. Difference is, you are not a moderator on those boards and can’t delete posts you don’t like.

I finally had enough of your preaching about spring dog training on wild birds and accused you of being obtuse. Not insulting or inflammatory IMO, but you deleted my post.

Others have called you out when you publicly refused to contribute to Hullett’s pheasant program, but quite enjoyed harvesting their birds...and complaining about it. This caused you to “leave in disgust” (your words not mine).

I agree there should be some reflection....it should be you.

I’d have to agree with you on the translation to writing — I’m somewhat ‘matter of fact’.

With that said, I hope I’m not contributing to too many arguments, as I don’t think I post enough.

Steve thing is you and I have very different views. Thing is I've move on from trying to change the minds of the differently capable.
Its only here I've encountered sour grapes and think my posts are quite enjoyed on real upland forums
