I've been lucky enough to be able to capture the progressive growth of a rack on a young buck this year over about 50 days :

3”-4” inch a week seen nice one out in corn field last week with 5 doe. He’s going to be a monster sadly he’s about 8 miles away

If you have Amazon prime must watch secrets of the whitetail stuff I never knew like scent glands between deer hoofs. Scent glands around eyes. Seen deer working a licking branch rubbing their faces eyes I never knew they had scent glands there
Twins could be from different fathers amazing show

Not the glands on legs which in the show does show deer stand almost cross legged to pee on them. But between hoofs so the ground is marked

Deer have 7-8 glands. They each serve different purposes.

The Interdigital gland is on the foot, between hoofs(toes).
It is speculated that it serves as an ID-but also as a warning scent .Scared deer may stomp the ground ,thus leaving scent marks which yell-danger!
