Email from RCMP that I need to apply for ATT again? spam or real
Before I open the email from RCMP that I need to start applying for ATT again as per firearms license changes.
Says I got email because I am effected.
Is this true or spam?
Hoping is spam because having ATT included with Restricted was a rare move where they made things easier.
Looking like they are going back in the other direction again.

My buddy got a form in the mail the other day that he has to now carry at all times when he transports his restricted/prohibited guns.
The fall out from bill C-71.
The least they could have done was make it a laminated card like the PAL/RPAL...

Yep, I got the same letter from them with the change in conditions on my RPAL.

The email is to warn me that a letter and application will be sent to me.
I still say if they want to reduce hand gun problems, use the simple solution.
Stop the practice of plea bargaining and probation when caught. If violators were to serve a full 10 years rather than serving 3 days plus 5 -10 year probation, then lessons will be better learnt.

Has too much time on their hands
Ian Runkle (lawyer thread) and CCFR (their thread too) have both brought up the changes and the need for ALL ATT holders to check the status of theirs and perhaps reapply since C-71

Got mine in the mail today.
Basically, now, your PAL-connected ATT is only valid to transport to/from an approved range OR for transport of a newly bought gun from buyer to your home.
ALL other types of restricted firearms movement anywhere else requires you to apply for an ATT to move it: e.g., to an exit port, gun show, repair, or verification, registration or disposal.
And the bottom of the letter has a section that has to be cut out and carried with your licence at all times.

You've always had to carry the part with the conditions attached. What they did was change the conditions. TC

Hey, they wouldn’t want you law-abiding citizens moving around your restricted firearms without some type of paperwork, if you had that type of freedom they wouldn’t be able to distinguish the difference between you and the law-breaking citizens who don’t generally have a firearm license either..
