    Default Minesing and Osprey Wetlands

Anyone have any information on hunting in the Minesing and/or Osprey Wetlands. I bought a permit earlier in the year but don't know much about the area and haven't found much online. Any information will be very appreciated.

If your hunting Minesing start learning the area now. You'll really want to be familar with the area before you go in to hunt it Believe its non motor access only so a canoe is your best friend. Its a place where a dog will earn its keep as dropped ducks will disappear in the grass.

I've always wanted to check out these areas, although I know when the Nottawasaga River is high it can sure be dangerous. I remember a guy ended up lost in the swamp a few years ago when the river had flooded the area he couldn't find his way back after dark. I would consider a handheld GPS and/or a compass as mandatory gear.

Report back once you've checked it out, I'm sure there are a few of us who would be interested to hear how it goes.

I hunted there 2 seasons ago and could never really figure it out that well and now without my kayak it's really not worth while. If you're interested in adding another person and have a boat or canoe I'd love to get back in there if you're interested in a hunting partner.

There is some good duck hunting to be had in there but your going to have to put your work in. It's a rather large area. Make sure you go in and check things out first. Pretty easy to get lost in there. To have any success your going to need to scout it out first. Look for some points or open bays that funnel into creeks. You'll likely find some birds there.

Lots of other people use it for recreation so be kind if you see others and pick up any hulls etc. Hunters are lucky to have places like this and we don't need to lose anymore!

    Good Luck.
