    Default Southern Ontario Dove Hunting

Hi all I've never hunted doves/pigeons but my gf just got her hunting license and figured it'd be a great place for her to start as I've heard it's a lot of action and fun. I am looking for a group or individual who can maybe show us the ropes we are in the GTA but willing to drive. If you wouldn't mind having us join you it'd be very helpful getting her in to this amazing lifestyle in what I think would be a positive way.

    Thanks for any help.

Remember you must use non-toxic shot when hunting them. I think Winchester was putting out # 7 1/2 size steel shot but #6's should work too. I hear wrapped in bacon done on the BBQ is a good recipe.
Good Luck & Good Hunting !

Thanks yes I know the regulations as they are considered migratory but still haven't been able to find a place to bring her.

If there are any sunflower farmers near you that would be a great place to go if you can get permission. If you're in a good area don't need much for doves. Some people use decoys or spinning wings which can help but not necessary. TC

Appreciate it, unfortunately none that I know of since we're in the GTA. The only one I know is near my cottage in Simcoe but I've asked before and got a no.

Wheat fields, silage corn fields, etc. are all good for Doves if you do some scouting.

You're not going to find handouts online -- just a simple fact. Everyone puts their time in behind the wheel and on landowner's porches.
