Lifetime background check implemented for firearm licence applicants
Firearms licence applicants are now subject to a lifetime background check (instead of five years) to ensure eligibility.

How very true!!! Unfortunately turdeau hasn't the plums to tackle the real issues as he is afraid he may offend someone as we all know and can see.

Just another tool for a bureaucrat to impose a lifetime ban.
What ever happened to the "sentenced served"?
Why is it that the Libs want total control of your lives?
Do they not believe in the rehab of people for past mistakes?
People who are career criminals re-offend in the span of five years I'm sure. So, what is the point of the witch hunt?
It is certain that the lawless gang bangers will not care as the sentences are still too lenient.
Seems to me that the Libs are running scared of the current law abiding gun owning citizens.
We show intelligence, are not dumbed down and a threat to them...lol

If you are already a gun owner this doesn't affect you. Why the negative comments? Whats wrong with that? I see nothing wrong with a background check if you want to get your firearms licence?
Has nothing to do with law abiding citizens because if you are, clearly nothing will happen with your background check and you will be approved ?
Law abiding gun owners have nothing to worry about here either as you already have your gun licence so whats wrong with this?

What if you were not law abiding lets say 25 years ago and a domestic complaint was leveled against an individual.
Based on that information a bureaucrat denies you a firearm license and then you have to hire a lawyer at the tune of thousands of dollars to fight it.
Think that is a fair representation of the law?
Just an example but the Liberals have empowered their servants to do exactly that.
No, it is not fear mongering.
Look at what is happening in Australia, NZ, UK, etc.
Eventually, only a select club of individuals will have rights to ownership of firearms.
This is a UN agenda. Read up on it and educate yourself. We do not have a benevolent government.

The problem is we were all young and stupid once. Say you got in a bar fight and were charged with assault or like a fellow I used to work with who stole a Canadian flag from a school when he was 18 and now he can't enter the US? There is also the possibility that they will include renewals in this grand plan. Never trust a politician, especially a Liberal. TC

Has too much time on their hands
If you look at the lawyer thread and CCFR on all the new crap being put on the law abiding, the ATT changes, the fight against the OIC etc. the changes being put in like the new transfer requirements have been topics of conversation for some time.

... just another demonstration of the fact the Libs MUST go!

It is a fair point that some countries are more strict than Canada. For example one country does not permit a person to own a firearm who at any point in their life was convicted of an offense carrying a prison sentence of over a year, an illegal drug user, committed to mental institution, convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence, dishonorably discharged from the military or subject to a restraining order for stalking an intimate partner or child.
That country is the United States of America:

Unlike Canada where you can make your case to a judge the only appeal from the lifetime ban in America is a pardon.
