There is some strain on the arches after a while but the saddle offers solutions. I tend to use the tree hugging method when my feet need a break. You could also brace against the tree with your knees. A lot of American saddle hunters pack tactical knee pads for this method.

I just got back from Burks Falls baiting. My cousin started baiting 10 barrels a few days last week and had a few baits hit. When I got there on Friday mine was the only one hit after he left , the remaining 9 barrels were untouched. Hopefully they will visit the sites this week, we are heading up hunting Sept 10th to the 16th.

Good luck to all who are heading to the bush for the fall bear hunt

Just went for my first go up in Temagami and Madwaska. Got swamped in Temagami, got a big hit in madawaska but a lot of evidence pointed towards him being poached at a small dump nearby... Not a good start. Going to my usual spot in Point Au Baril this weekend and checking out Noelville as well.

As for methods me and my old man bait our own bears which makes getting nice sized bears really improbable. Especially since we have to drive at least 6 hours to hunt bear. We use crossbows. We found the bears didn't go as far vs a lung shot w/1oz slugs. Less meat wasted too.

Last 2 weeks the baits in our area have all slowed down. Thinking there must be acorns or berries ready. Big wind on Tuesday and Wednesday will possibly have put a lot of acorns on the ground.

Beauty day today to be out but very quiet. 2 hours and 9 minutes until the end of legal right now.

Best of luck on your hunt!
