The problem to me is, like every other smoke screen, is that it is using our hard earned tax dollars to fund something that will not impact the root problem....anytime our money is wasted on distraction laws..
..it must be questioned and resisted.
This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......

Has nothing to do with law abiding citizens because if you are, clearly nothing will happen with your background check and you will be approved ?
Law abiding gun owners have nothing to worry about here either as you already have your gun licence so whats wrong with this?

Now why do you suppose they have a PAL renewal every five years? It opens up your file for a background check, over the past five years. Now however it will be opening up your file for a lifetime background check. In your youthful exuberance did you ever do something that may have rated a police incident report?

So,someone with a thirty year old simple shoplifting charge or got into a barroom scrap in college is disqualified from firearm ownership, permanently? This,to me,looks like the Liberals using any and every excuse possible to deny licenses. Now,before Liberal supporters on the forum claim it's an over-think,remember that we're dealing with Liberal bureaucrats who haven't the common sense God gave a gnat.

The well known UN agenda is to disarm the populations.
Our government is a servant to them.

It doesn't mean that necessarily. It means if you have events in your past beyond five years that may preclude your being issued a license you will be asked to explain them. If your explanation is not accepted and these events are used to deny you a license there is an appeal process.

Given those examples, you would be fine. I suspect only incidents of violence of a more serious nature, would trigger an investigation by a firearms officer. It would not automatically result in a revocation or refusal…

The reasons for firearms renewal or denial should be published, clear and concise.
It should not be left to a politically appointed bureaucrat to decide what is acceptable or not.

Rick, they say lifetime checks for "applicants." Perhaps it applies only if you are making an your first application for a Firearm License. Might I have been reading too much into it, by thinking it gets applied when you are just making a renewal application? Surely the point was not to make it 'a skeleton in the closet hunt,' for those having already been granted a firearm license, and have a clear record.

Do you really trust this government? Remember they said none of their gun control will affect hunters or sport shooters yet here we are with even paint ball and airsoft guns being prohibited, meaning at some point you won't even be allowed to possess them. This lifetime background check for first time applicants will be a trial balloon with lifetime checks for renewals to soon follow. TC
