    I have hornbeam on the property, I'll go and check in the morning so see if they have the seed pods like that.

    Yea that is the bark and leaves for a hornbeam. , I just don't ever remember seeing the seed pods like that, and they are quite outstanding, so you'd think I would have noticed somewhere along the line

    MP is correct. Very hard. Harder than white oak or sugar maple. More heat BTUs per pound than pretty well anything else in Ontario.

    I don’t ever remember seeing pods like that either trunk pics are tree right at my gate see it every time going in or out pods are at top of it
