Has too much time on their hands
The benefits actually do outweigh the risks when it comes to rabies. Rabies is deadly.

In most cases getting it as a preventive measure also cost $$$. Was $350 when I got it in early 2000s to do work in sketchy parts of rural Africa.

Out of respect to OP please keep post directly related to rabies.
If you want to discuss covid and rabbies start another thread in the covid forum

Rabies is around us, if you are a trapper or exterminator you should spend that money on your shot but the rarity of rabies in animals that are in contact with people is very small. That being said, I have been told that if you have had any exposure to bats you should get the shot.
There was a Canadian who died of rabies a few years back, got it in the Caribbean while working there and died back in Canada, still rare.
