Sharing SML Info
I sometimes ask myself of when I will stop digging deeper into the SML world?
Day one it was go through the normal routine of loading and shooting. Getting a 1-1/2” group was no problem but producing it consistently was another issue. At that point it was time to start learning why things operated the way they did. With help from others, I began to piece info together like a puzzle and started to get a clearer picture.
With the passing of time, I also have to wonder how many 10ML-II are still around? Can offering knowledge of the 10ML-II through suggestions be helpful? When sharing info should I only focus on loads?
At this point in time, I’m working on load developments and testing powders. One powder I would like to get my hands on is LT-30. With this powder shortage it’s tough enough to get any powder.
Same for primers as I want to acquire some 209 Cheddite Clerinox and see if they are as advertised.
I guess for now I’ll sit tight and observe the activity on the muzzleloader board.

Nice to know there are still some 10ML-II shooters around. I have spent hours working with the 10ML-II trying many different things seeking optimum performance. Shooting 5/8” groups at 100yds is not uncommon for me. Over time I have learned even simple things like sabot indexing to bore, having a good load resistance of around 20lbs and compressing my powder load to mention a few can improve range results.
Currently I working with lighter bullets like the 200FTX and trying to get a decent group. From there I have 3 other 200gr bullet candidates to try. From there it will be back to 250gr bullets and Rel-7 for achieving a 2500fps load. And there’s more over time.
From time to time I can share some pressure traces as I’ve got my older model working at the moment.
So I can verify what pressures some loads produce.

Nicely done on the coyote.

Very cool!
I load 44gr AA 5744 with a .300grxtp.
Check my zero this month and go and fill some tags in November!! My 10ML gun is as reliable as my Tikka T3x .223...

Sounds like you have a respectable load developed for your 10ML-II.
I wish you good hunting this Nov. with a nice buck included in the tally.

I most definitely agree the 10ML-II performance can be enhanced and that comes from first hand experience. One area I’m working on is ignition performance by modifying the BP. Will discuss later when I get some more data put together. For now, I’ll say the 3/8” recessed BP is really performing well but you have to reset the head-spacing to avoid blowback issues.
