Question from this newb hunter, am I able to hunt an antlered deer (buck) in the resident open season if I buy a deer tag after the August 31 deadline?

Longer answer is that your basic deer licence is valid for a buck in any Unit with a open deer season. A caveat to this is that some Units in southern Ontario limit the number of hunters, so you need a validation through the controlled hunt draw. To hunt antlerless deer, you need an antlerless tag obtained through the antlerless draw, or purchase an additional game seal (for antlerless deer) valid for specific Units that have them.
There are no stupid questions, so ask away if you have any more.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm doing my planning work for next year (not hunting this fall), as I read into the regulations a bit more anything with antlers less than 7.5cm is considered "antlerless" so as you said better to apply for the hunt.
