Mandatory Influenza (Flu) Shots ?
Saw a lineup at the drug store yesterday for the Annual Flu shots...
Got me to gaze into the 'Idiocy' crystal ball and wonder if the Ontario Government will make the Flu shot mandatory too...
They have told us repeatedly the that Health Care system was nearly bought to its knees when 24 covid patients were admitted to the Hospital in a city of 1.2 million people, so I assume that will still hold true for the bad season of Influenza.
So what's the word..everyone heading out to get the Annual Flu shot for this winter ??

I went to the pharmacy yesterday for the annual flu shot and nary a soul was there. In fact I was the only one there getting a shot. Seems like no one is in any kind of rush to get that vaccine either.
I guess it's like snow tires...you don't panic till the Flu actually starts making the rounds. HaHa.

I got my first flu shot last year and plan on getting it again this year.
Work gets a nurse to come in at the office so just need to make appointment and work in office that day.

Did the government not report that there was just about zero cases of influenza last year? It magically disappeared to be replaced by covid?
Hence, probably why there are few lining up for the regular shot.

It was certainly low numbers but you don’t get the flu if you don’t get it from others so to me that just shows that COVID precautions work extremely well for flu prevention

Are you able to post here the list of viruses the inoculation protects against this year and the manufacturer?
It should be on the piece of paper they gave you.

I wasn't given any paperwork at the pharmacy, I know it wasn't the 65+ "extra' strength shot.
The Ontario Health has released the shots available at this link :
https://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/...alth/flu/uiip/
The virology report from Australia for 2021:
To date, 67.8% of notifications of laboratory-confirmed influenza to the NNDSS were influenza A, of which 96.8% were influenza A(unsubtyped), 3.0% were influenza A(H3N2), and 0.3% were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09. Influenza B accounted for 22.7% of notifications, 3.1% were influenza A and B co-infection, 0.4% were influenza C, and 6.0% were untyped
And before we shrug this 'Flu' off...remember:
For those who shrug off influenza as nothing more than a bad cold, consider this data from Statistics Canada: Between 2015 and 2019, on average, “influenza and pneumonia” was the sixth-leading cause of death in the country,
killing an estimated 7,333 Canadians annually. Like COVID, it hits the most vulnerable hardest, yet it is also capricious, striking the young and healthy as well.
