How many points for tags in 49?
Hey All,
Just back from moose camp and was curious to see what people were seeing on points needed for tags.
We drew a second chance calf (with 9 points) and were lucky enough to fill it.
At the butcher he had a bull in that was drawn on 18 points. We had a guy with 20 points who was unsuccessful on a bull.
By 9:30am opening morning we saw 3 bulls, cow and twin calves so the population is looking healthy (in our neck of the woods at least).
Cheers

My dads gang had 3 guys over 19 and got nothing. Guy with 9 points claimed a calf tag. They still up there, Havnt heard anything. Think they doing more bear hunting than anything.

We had several applicants with 18-20 points and never drew for a bull. Very curious how the point system is working and what the required number would be

Ya same here. . . I hope the ministry publicizes some more details about how the system actually worked this year.
Clearly there is a still a lottery component because 18 points drew a bull in 49 but 20 did not

Was the bull at the butcher from unit 49?

Something doesn't sound right there...I think I recall from a previous thread that bull tags in 49 started at around 24.
I drew a archery bull in 49 with 20 pts, lucky enough to fill it in 2 days. Kinda sucks that it's likely the last moose tag in 49 for me. Looks like deer and bear only moving foward.

I'll wait until the results are published before believing hearsay. Have to know the different variables as well. Someone with less points could snag a tag with their first choice ahead of someone with more points who put in for the same tag as their second or third choice could they not.
