    Good for you for going out and sticking to your plan. Like you, I try to set a time limit in the stand and I give it a bit longer to make sure. Btw, your dog looks like a keeper!

    I just use the excalibur broadheads. yes bow/xbows will make the same shot at a lot closer range, but I find that the deer will travel a lot further with bow then a gun. also I'm a ground hunter so there typically isn't any blood trail to speak of. I shot a big buck 3 years ago at edge of cut bean field, I double lunged it and it ran 400yds out into the field and there was not blood till I got within 20yds. I was glad that it stayed in the field. I agree that having dogs now help track is a great option.
