I think some of you guys don't know what your talking about - your being pushed by your political views - under Trump the U.S.. was energy independent because he allowed drilling in places where it had been stopped - now there are all kind of restrictions on drilling and naturally less oil means higher prices - Trump was controlling our southern border where now it is a free passage to the U.S. - Trump cut taxes which brought companies back to the states with the resulting more jobs - I could go on and on - Trump was the best thing that happened to America since Ronald Regan - the stupid people didn't know when they had a good thing and put a baboon in the White House along with a punch of nitwits who don't have a clue how to run a country - the result is everything is falling apart - the stimulus package allowed people to quit work and now there is a shortage of goods - why work when you can get a along fine without it - I always said that what is needed is real hard times so people get back to basics and have their feet on the ground again - for too long people have been spoiled with the good life and spent their energy on stupid things like transgender issues, woke and racial issues - tearing down statues of people who had a hand in forming the country - this carbon tax is a joke and will ruin the whole economy of a country - unfortunately good people who voted for Trump will also have to bear the ills of what is going on but I think these people are the heart and soul of this country and have the fortitude to weather the hard times coming - let the hard times roll -

It is my understanding that the high US gas prices are the result of the Saudi/Russia price war, and the collapse of the US shale oil industry.
Now the demand is back, but the shale producers are still closed.
The US was actually oil-independent for a few years.

The Saudi government have turned down the taps, remember Trump was close to their terrorist leader.

That is exactly what Trump was doing to Canada, knocking the crap out of us during trade agreements and trying to screw us over. Just as well we had an able female deputy Prime Minister to sort him out.

Presently he is trying to supress voting in the USA to steal their democratic country, not going to happen, Trump and Republicans are toast come next election.

As the carbon taxes go up there will be more and more money taken from Canadian pockets and depriving the poorest any kind of real opportunity, but #LibsDontCare , Trudeau has the govt paying for vacations and nannies and his "family fortune" (his words). They managed to make one pipeline project government owned and killed Energy East and Biden has done damage to energy independence too but it makes the Saudis etc. happy. In the last 5 years I checked and Saudi Arabia have sold us $12.3 billion in oil.

Yes - the price war is over...but the US shale industry has not recovered. Unlike Canada, the US industry was heavily leveraged, and when prices collapsed there were a lot of failures.

While I invest quite a bit in both the Canada and US energy industries, I'm still a bit taken aback of the shale industry failure.
I thought counting on Americans to protect energy security was a pretty good bet. After all, isn't this the same country that used to invade other countries over oil???
And now they won't even protect the industry within their own borders. That's a bit tough to comprehend, yet here we are.
