Would duck hunting ruin this parcel?
I have perms for a nice large pond that's very brushed in that is absolutely full of wood ducks, so much so I could get my limit within an hour. I'm sitting there waiting for deer and just watching them imagining myself with a shotgun. There seems to be only one 6 point on the property with a bush about 200 yards away, he hasn't visited much since the corn was picked a few days ago. I'm wondering if blasting some shotguns around would make him leave permenantley. Thanks!

Leave permanently, I don't think so, maybe it will spook him a bit, and possible make him less likely to venture out during shooting hours though....

Thanks. Honestly at this point I could probably get his weight in duck before I get a chance at him.

Years ago I shot a limit of ducks in the morning then went out and sat in my treestand about 200 yards from the pond that night. Missed a nice eight point that came by with a six point. It was about this time of year. When I checked a trail cam a week later it showed that they had come by the pond before I missed them. Don’t think you have to worry about it.

Thanks! Time to grab the shotgun. Never took an interest in waterfowl but now that I have good properties for it I'm excited to grab the shotgun and head out.

No,shotgun blast will not scare them away, but excessive running up and down, and dogs chasing ducks may.

Good thing I plan on retrieving them with a good ol' trebble hook and float or a net if they're close enough.

no real experience with a pond and deer hunting, but I agree with others. no, but don't go wondering around the bush your scent may bother them. I have hunted a pond in a persons back yard for geese. used an old repela to hook geese. only problem was if you missed and had to retrieve the lure back to try again you had to fight the bass that kept hitting.
