Where I live there are hardly any birds - usually they are all around - for the first time that I can remember the blue bird nest I make was empty - dogwood berries are not being eaten by the birds - autumn olive berries go uneaten - I just don't see many birds around - the only birds I am seeing now are the bluejays that are migrating south - there seems to be a lot of them - I have a lot of pin oak trees on my property and they like the acorns - but other than those something is wrong - is this happening up north also -

We had a lot of the common birds, robins, starling, black birds, wrens all leave early this year. Maybe they know something, then again maybe just one of those things that happen.

During this summer when it was really dry there wasn't a songbird anywhere. I seen doves climb inside my down pouts of the house to get a drink of water, Don't know where they all went but they left the area. After the first rain they all came back, thought that was interesting.

NE of Orangeville in Mono definitely less songbirds this year. In 82a at camp numbers seemed normal. South shore of Nipissing numbers seemed normal as well.

My neighbors and I think everything is 1 month behind schedule due to the very warm fall we've had.
We still have birds around, when they should be long gone ... but last week coincidentally it started getting cold, and they
    are now leaving.

Our maples still have ALL the leaves on them ... by now, they should be pretty close to finishing their dumps.

We've had more song birds this summer than most. Cardinals, Orioles, and Humming birds in particular but good numbers of Gold finch, Robins, Sparrows, etc. around as well. Most are gone now except the Blue jays and doves. When I get the feeders going again in a few days I expect some of the Cardinals and finches will return.
Weather experts are saying we are in for a bad winter with lots of snow and cold temperatures. I think nature has a better sense of this than we do. Maybe this is why the trees still have leaves and birds have left.
I know there is still a lot more colour in the trees around than normal.
