I haven’t seen a live pheasant in the wild since I was a kid. Haven’t gone looking for them though.FCEC0886-11CA-48B1-9176-316D31D641AD.jpg

Where was that? I seem to remember that you hunt in the Marlborough forest - was it near there? I'm not asking because I want to go shoot it, but because I've now heard of a few sightings of unusual game birds in the general area.

that a sight you don't see to often any more. I think I have seen them twice in about 12 years. it is a shame we lost almost all the wild ones.

I saw a pair near Metcalfe a few years ago. Nice looking birds for sure.

Nice to see but who's to say its wild. Could of been an escape or someone let it go. Either way still nice to see

This was on my way to the forest from Kemptville. Just on the side of the road. Right beside an area that had been clearcut so maybe looking for new territory.
I saw a pair of sandhill cranes two years ago in a cut corn field in the spring about 10 minutes away ( Burritts Rapids ) from where I saw the pheasant.

Yes the 'Wild' pheasants are in the Kemptville Area...I've seen them a few times out while Tukey hunting in my area. The first time I saw them I thought they were from a local farm but no..they're a Wild game bird.

The neighbour at the property I hunt (between North Gower and Smiths Falls) mentioned to me that there were two Bobwhite Quails in front of his blind a couple of times last week while deer hunting. He sent me a picture, and while it's blurry, they definitely look like quails. This is less than 15 km from the Marlborough forest.
