    Default 2021 deer hunt summary

This year was weird. The weather was sunny and mild until Wednesday when showers moved in followed by snow on Thursday which closed many roads in the region. I went home Wednesday afternoon while 4 guys stayed back to hunt. Although I missed out on additional hunting opportunities, I got home without being impacted by the storm.

We did ok with deer as we got a buck, doe, and 2 fawns. One fellow missed a dandy buck standing broadside at 150 yards… don’t rest your barrel on your shooting sticks when firing, always rest on the forend! One fellow had a medical emergency and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance. He’s ok but needs evaluation to determine what is causing his issues. I spent a day still hunting some nice bush but saw 3 wolves and no deer.

I didn’t see a lot of deer and, over the course of the hunt, could of shot a spike buck, a doe, and a fawn. I was holding out for a big one… which I never saw. One bit of good news is that we got permission to hunt a property that had been denied to us. This will give us a few more options next year.

It really has been an odd year. It seems I have been in the right place at the wrong time with my bow.. lol
I still have my archery only additional tag. It's usually filled in October..

I was lucky to get this 6 point buck with my savage 10ml at a whopping 30 yards during the controlled hunt.

I'll keep at it untill the last day with my xbow...

Yep he was a healthy weight. I'm not a rack hunter. I give the racks to my lab to chew on so she was happy too... lol
