Recommendation for E-collar
My son has a GSP pup that he would like to train for hunting. It's not his first GSP so he is comfortable with the breed but he would like to try an e-collar to help fine tune his pup. Any particular units to get or avoid? Through my job I have access to Sportdog brand but I don't know how they rate compared to others. He doesn't need gps or anything but I'm sure range will be a factor, those guys can cover ground in a hurry! TC

Garmin (tri-tronics) i run the pro 550, the setup is the best at least to me with the variable dial up top and the buttons on the side.

Used this most of my gun dog life (different number back then). Simple to use. ( Not a GPS unit.)

If he wants a beeper to Dogtra t&B is hard to beat. I also liked the Dogtra Edge.

I’ve been using a sport dog for a few years no complaints with it.

find of mine just got a Dogtra. It has ecollar and beeper all in one. What I really like is the location feature. So with a push of a button you can locate your dog as the collar lets out a loud beep. I prefer that over a bell and/or beeper running on track mode. This way you can run your dog on silent and not scare away birds. I run sport dog's on my dogs. They were given to me used and are bullet proof thus far. One is over 10 years old while the other is 5 years old. Never had any issues with them.

I like my SportDog 1875. It worked flawlessly every day for 5 years and when it broke they replaced it for about 100$. I got the one with UplandHunter Add-A-Beeper. I have the beeper on a separate collar so I don't always have to have it on the dog. I only use the beeper to page the dog when she is on point and I cannot see her.

well, you can't beat the price for those collars. I wish I been given some collars :-)
