This could very well be a reality. Huron County is not Pickering....and I mean that as a compliment.

Has not worked that well state side has it?
I've seen videos of guys in Texas who trap like 10 of them at a time. Pretty nuts.

As mentioned the second controlled season starts next week, imagine being a blocker and the doggers push a dozen of these out at you. How fast can you reload?
The idea of trapping them is to have them come into a feeder, once the whole sounder is in drop a large steel trap to get them all at one time. I have seen some videos, would work wonders if the population is small and concentrated. But with all the reports over the last few weeks it is probably already too late. I thought it was something like three litters a year.

If its 3 litters a year,
All them pigs will have a litter before the mnr even has a quote on getting a trap to trap them things,

Funny thing is-"we" are all up in the arms about them,"we" all worry about them establishing here,we will have a NO hunt from January -to prevent them from spreading.
Then we overlook the fact ,that the farmland is wast, the farmers can and will do what they need to do........so the sounders will disperse regardless.
I hope the pigs out there will get the memo: do not worry, they do not hunt you, they are just protecting their property-no need to disperse.Stay put until we do not figure out how to get rid of yous.
Reminds me of a joke regarding pigs, from back in time(from the good old socialist era-when the we know it all /tell it all communists ruled half of Europe.)
There is a large state run pig farm. They call a general asssembly to vote on the next 5 year plan(planned economy)
The GM (who is also by default high in the party )says : we will plan to have from each sow 12 piglets!Applause. We will export 10 pigs then to Soviet Union, and the rest we will consume for our needs.
Storm of applause (after all, they made sure well in advance -people in Gen. Assembly are like minded or disheartened individuals.)No need for challenge there.
Any question?
One old guy from the back row(who was kept to be a member of the assembly due of his actual knowledge of farming pigs-someone needed to get the job done for them at the end) dared to ask THE question:
Did You comrades talked to the pigs, and made an agreement with them sows in these fertility numbers???
The sows happened to have an average of 10 piglets in the future. Since there was the agreement of exporting 10 pigs to USSR, they were left with NO pigs to eat!

The population will expand exponentially through the natural process over time. This is happening in New York state where the no hunting position has been established for the last four years. It's turning out to be a dismal failure and people are ripping politicians new butt holes. The OMNRF don't have the budget to put gas in their vehicles let alone finance dozens of teams to trap the animals in large enough numbers to prevent their spread. I can hear the whining and boo-hooing already. Wait for it.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Think it’s a little late. They have been hiding in corn fields all summer.

More likely 2 litters of up to 10 each
I am a pig farmer. Domestic pigs can have about 2.5 litters a year. Those ten piglets will be breeding age in 6 months

Update: Someone called my parents back and emailed them a chart of several types of pigs. Apparently they were somewhat fixated on identifying the type of pig seen. Dad sent them pictures and said he had no idea really what specific hog he saw, but did say he saw them again a couple days later in the exact same field....
