hullet marsh this weekend 11/28/21
looking to head out to hullett this weekend on Sunday with my son, hes 12 and will just be watching hes going for his courses soon.
wifes away on a girls cottage trip so time for a boys weekend.
been up there a couple times but its such a massive area pretty damn easy to get turned around
i have a couple dozen decoys waders gun ammo everything needed except a bit of assistance or know how my duck calling skills equate to something like a wet chilli fart at hunt camp on a cold day that gets you laughed at hahahah.
anyone heading out this weekend that wouldn't mind a tag along and a half??? or a good idea on where to go?

Sure hope you get some timely advice.
With the weather forecast things may be locking up, might be good times for a hard core waterfowler however for a fresh face 12 year old might be asking a bit much.
Good luck and please report back if you get out

Sent you a PM.
im hoping this weekend it wont lock up. or if it does its gonna be only some spots with thin ice. or at least I hope, my inflatable can only take so much sharp ice edges lol
be careful walking in the marshes/water with wader though. it can get muddy and pull u in ... its happened to me and ppl I went with more than id like to admit
now I always have the inflatable tied to me or a rope tied to the trees to pull myself out in case.

Clays are always a good first step. Do you have a dog? Planted birds over a rock solid pointer is always a good intro to bird shooting. Its the most controlled exposure able to take it slow and build confidence. Although pheasant is standard fair you have to go through a game farm out of season. Chukars are an option anytime of the year as there is no season/limit restriction on them and your free to release up to 10 birds on private property and if you need more permits from the MNR are easy to get and free. That should get him ready for early goose over decoys from there sky is the limit.
