    Default Bye bye property.

    Just found out a property me and my old man have been archery hunting for over a decade switched owners and the new one is not fond of hunters. Our best property too unfortunately. We never had any amazing properties where it was crawling with mature bucks, usually only ever 1-2 mature bucks between all the properties we have perms for. But definitely got by well regardless and were very thankful considering most hunters can barely hunt public land. Oh well. I'm very thankful for the mature bucks we harvested out of that bush, including my dad's biggest deer this season.

    It's always sad when that happens,but,unfortunately,other than try to get on the new owners good side and try to re-educate him,there isn't a lot that can be done. That's a beautiful buck. Good job and congratulations. Now the work starts finding new stompin' grounds. You have a year. Make the best of it.

    Sucks to hear. Lost 2 of our spots back in August when we went to talk to landowners for the hunt(property sold, new owner))

    Then last day of the hunt another land owner tells us he's going to sell before next season. Another 178 acres gone. Don't blame him, He's going to list it for like 3 million....no buildings just land.

    its crazy what prices are these days for land...few years ago I thought 100 acres west of orangeville going for 300K was pricey and I will wait till it comes down to buy, its triple that atleast now

    I got a little tale to tell you guys as its kinda related to the topic at hand.

    I see this property yesterday five minutes away from Lindsay for sale . Thirty acres with ten being a hay field and twenty acres of bush.
    There was no price on it but I was curious because it was a 519 number, so I, am thinking its around Lindsay. Phone the number and its answered right away by an American down in New York. So I basically just ask outright what are you asking for it.

    So the guy tells me $77,000.00 so right away I am taken aback with this very low price. So the guy tells me there are a few problems with the land, its owned jointly with his sister, who he fell out with 20 years ago and she is on title.

    So at this stage I decided that I should tell the guy that he is very, very low on his price IMHO about 5 times to low. He can hardly believe what I am saying, he told me that he had bought it to grow ginseng on, but because he did not make an immediate return his sister got mad and basically abandoned the land. But he has been paying taxes on it for all these years.

    So I gave him my best advice about how he should handle the mess with the usual common sense suggestions.

    This guy was so impressed by my honesty that he says "Do you want to hunt it". So basically I declined as I have my own place and wished him luck in selling this place. When I asked him where he got his pricing from he stated the MPAC assessment.

    Now this does not have a building parcel on it and is zoned RU but still I felt the price was way low.

    Bought my 100 acre camp with 1/4 mile frontage on the Saugeen 11 years ago for 140K. Not idea what it's worth now and don't care as i never intend to sell it. Orangeville is stupid expensive but guess that's everywhere now.

    I often wonder how often this happens and is there anymore of these deals out there, As I'm looking lol

    We tried for 15 years to reach the owners of this 100 acres next to our hunt camp. They lived in England and have never seen the property in person. Finally when we got their phone # we asked if she would sell it.

    She wouldn't give a price so my uncle offered $20,000, Almost as a joke. She goes, SURE!, Was amazed we would pay that for swamp land.

    We fired my uncle from camp president after for his negotiation skills LOL

    That sucks you lost you spot but many of us all went through this. It just seems it always happens to the good spots LOL
