    Default Tracking downed game

When traditional tracking skills are combined with new blood-detection and tracking products, lost game can become a thing of the past.

For sure. I think the article is for people without access to a tracking dog.
There's also the issue of the deer mixing it up with other deer - that can cause a tracking dog problems.

Yes, dogs like to follow the hottest trail but cross track training will resolve that, its usually only a problem with new dogs, when they figure out the game cross tracks are not a problem.

my lab she almost 2 years old now is doing an amazing job. It is if the wounded deer give off a different sent as she has had no issues. last year when she was 10 months she track my deer 100yds with no blood for first 50. This year she was on my 1st deer almost before I could even mark the first spot of blood, heart shot so didn't go to far. Then my 2nd deer it was in a cut corn field and I watched it go almost 300yds. I brought her to the bush the next day, it rained most of the night and 16hrs later. Got to the spot where I shot it and told her to find the deer, she tracked it right to the gut pile. I will put her on every deer I get just for practice, one day I might actually need her help or someone I know.

Incorrect, you will most likely have to track less. Deer can go hundreds of yards with complete pass through lung shots.

What's that? Blow both shoulders out with 30.06? Lol

I hear ya though, I want to anchor them right there or I keep banging. Last 2 deer I shot they took off like I missed. Blew the first ones heart in half and double lunged the second. They ran threw a bunch of golden rod and blood was minimal the first 20 yards, Good thing I had a view of which way they ran or else you almost think you missed.
