I definitely believe you. Most of my deer were taken in probably the most heavily hunted crown land you could find. It's only 80 acres, but It's super thick. Full of nothing but vines, tall grass, and fallen ash and pine trees. So it weeds out 99% of the hunters that wont go further than 100 yards in at most and they usually miss the main crossings. Only thing is the deer go completely nocturnal in the late season. It's also bordering a private property that is owned by uber anti-hunters so it provides a safe haven for them. Which is actually good because you'll usually have a few deers at all times nearby.

Was fishing with a bud maybe 7-8 years ago. We were fishing a big bay, no camps. Shoreline was weeds and swamp. We were discussing it as a duck hunting spot when my bud noticed a sign posted to an overhanging tree on shore. He investigated later.. just a lot. No road. Hydro was "next door" (wherever next door was.. no other camps). $80,000. This wasn't acres of land.. just a lot with what sounded like lots of hurdles.
Our neighbour sold his place last year. New owners got a phone call sometime after from someone in the states saying "Name your price".

Land owner is getting up in age and his son is taking over. He actually pulled my stands down sometime after the muzzleloader hunt. I went for a morning hunt today and found my stands gone. Talked to the son and he said no more hunting and come and pickup your stands. Kind of ruined my morning hunt!

Sounds like a "nice"guy,hope he did not wreck your stands.
