I have no information that the warrant was not presented so cannot say if that is a fact and the police are not required to leave a copy behind at the premises, unless thing's have changed since I was in the business.

    This should instill confidence.

SIU investigations while not particularly time are meticulous and the results are made public. Here's a link to some past reports.

The SIU investigates and then recommends to the Crown whether charges are appropriate. It's not a perfect system but it is preferable to the police investigating the police.
Here’s some stats on SIU that don’t come from themselves.

WOW, certainly not a lot there that would lead to having much confidence in the impartial objectivity of the SIU. Quite the opposite actually.

Instead of reading the conclusions of a hard leftist rag from downtown Toronto with a long history of being anti-police why not read the actual SIU reports themselves and judge whether they are making the right recommendations.

    But are the facts incorrect?!?!
That “ rag” is definitely anti police but the SIU is pro- police.

My preference is to read the reports themselves and draw my own conclusions as opposed to relying on the conclusions of a publication with a long history of cop hating. YMMV.

Most all police officers do not get up in the morning and say to themselves I hope I can kill a civilian today. If we start from that reasonable premise its not surprising the low number of charges laid against the police. The SIU will get the answers for the public and family.

The SIU’s investigation of an incident begins at the time of notification and entails a number of actions including:

Examining and securing all physical evidence
    Seeking and interviewing witnesses
Monitoring the medical condition of persons that have been injured
Securing police equipment for forensic testing
Consulting with the coroner if there has been a death
Notifying next of kin in death cases
Ensuring complainants (that is, those who have been seriously injured or are alleging sexual assault, and the families of deceased persons) are kept up to date
Reviewing the results of analyses from outside agencies (ie.g. post-mortem reports, Centre of Forensic Sciences tests, etc.)

And keep the family members that this affected in the dark until they are ready to release their findings.... I cant imagine what the family is going through at this time.

There is nothing worse than a rushed investigation, as is evident from the number of folks released from jail who were innocent.

The wheels of justice turn slowly which is a very old and true saying.
