Yes, I walk out and place my caller about 40 yds out maybe even a bit more at times and then go back and sit in a nice comfortable spot. I might take a minute or two before I am ready to call.
I spend that minute or two adjusting my seating position, meaning maximize my vantage point, adjust my turning radius and get real comfortable so I don't move while I am waiting
As for sounds, I usually keep my caller playing all the time. When I am not blasting it, I lower it right down so I can barely here it.... Then shout out with my hand calls, keep repeating the process until something comes out, or I leave.
Depending on how much time I have, my sets will vary from 15 to over 30 minutes.... I find most coyotes come in between the 5-7 minute mark...
One of the most important things is getting into the setup location undetected.... Watch the wind and the amount of noise you make getting to the location, I strongly believe it is the setup more than the sound that will produce the most coyotes.
