A Double

Got the to the farm at first light. Walked over to my setup location taking the wind into consideration. I went out and placed my decoy/caller about 30 yds out in front of me and went back to the tree-line and settled in. I gave a couple of screams out with my hand caller and waited. I look over my left should and a coyote is cutting across the far field behind me. I know it's only a matter of time before it winds me so I rotate and crank up my scope. I yell out a loud WOLF sound and he stops. I take careful aim and at the 220 yd shot he begins to run. My initial reaction was I missed because he started running straight away (usually a hit makes them spin once or twice) but this female just started running right away.
She went about 75 yds and stopped.... She turned and just looked in my direction. I thought about shooting again but 300yds facing me is beyond my capabilities. I watched her for a few minutes then she decided to lay down. Now my mind is thinking, maybe I did hit her, so I sat and watched her for about 10 minutes before I see her head drop.

At this point she is hunkering down from the wind or she is dying, either way I figure I better start calling again to see if I can pull one out of the actual bush I planned on hunting.
So I kept an eye on her as I started calling again... After about 6-7 minutes I notice movement, its a coyote and it's slowly making his way toward me. He took his time but after a couple of minutes makes his way into the field I was in. He started coming to the decoy and stopped about 100 yds out which gave me a quartering to shot. At the shot he spun once or twice and made his way to expire at the bush-line.
Both coyotes weren't in good shape. One had the beginning of a rat's tail (never good) and the other had mites.

Great job yet again.

Makes me think -with all the bad news about coyote impact(and coyote being non native )why they do not give incentives to hunt coyotes(or wolves ,where applicable).

They should remove the tag allocations for coyote and wolf in those WMU, that could help to put more of them down.
