Northern Coot Invasion of 2021
While this fall was a strange hunting season, October not only was mild but really lacked in north winds out in my area this year but with those west winds also brough us in the Timmins area, lots and lots coots in our local lakes. Practically most lakes and marshy rivers this year in the area in October had coots which are usually pretty rare in my area (like you might see one a year if that). I hunted a couple and limited out on em and they are a very good eating bird. Legs, breast, heart and liver all good when fresh. Very underrated and cool looking bird too.

My Dad called them "Marsh Chickens". LoL ! We usually get thousands of them down here at Long Point each year but haven't really seen a lot this year. I've read that they are very popular with hunters down in the Gulf States especially Florida where the bulk of them Winter over.
Good Luck & Good Hunting !
