Well hoping that Canada stays the same as she did over history in this globalized world , interconnected world makes no sense.

No one is hoping it stays exactly the same. Rather, many hope that it changes for the better, or at least stops getting worse. We can become kinder, more efficient, more productive, etc. without murdering basic truths and common sense. We can incentivize Canadians to have more children via income tax reductions or other benefits for families with 3 or more children, for example. We can fix our severely inflated and unsustainable education system that bankrupts our children to get more degrees than a thermometer in order to take an entry-level office job at $35,000. We can fix our healthcare system. We can bring back manufacturing and other jobs that have been taken overseas at the expense of the vitality and soul of small towns everywhere. We can send less money to other countries and help our vets. We can tackle the opioid crisis (which is related to the loss of jobs in small towns, the breakdown of the family/religion as per JoePa, and the reintegration of vets). These things all make lots of sense.

Reply. If Canadians wanted more children they would have had them, its to much work and they are not interested. An educated population is better than an uneducated one, look at Trump supporters for evidence.(his words) . If you wanted to bring back manufacturing jobs previous Conservative governments should not have made trade deals with China. If you send less money to other countries to support them there you may get them landing on your shores in any event.

If your a purist why are we not all speaking Inuktitut and Ojibway or Cree? Why are the Scot's and Irish not speaking Gaelic?

Many Scots & Irish do speak Gaelic in Scotland & Ireland (and in some parts that’s all they speak), but less and less due to globalization/immigration. We’re all becoming one bland, generic blob in the name of increased profits and cheap goods. And we actually did learn the local languages, that’s how Catholic missionaries integrated with the Mi’kmaq in the 17th century. They accompanied them on moose hunts in Quebec and learned the language. Their journals quickly became very popular back in France as first hand accounts of the new world.

Reply. They do not speak less Gaelic because of globalization that is simply a dumb assertion and nothing to do with immigration.

So the dominant culture when we arrived was the aboriginal culture and next by immigration French?

Not exactly. There was no dominant national culture because local tribes were at constant war with one another and they had absolutely no conception of country. The word Mohawk literally means ‘man eater’ in Iroquois. This is the natural state of tribal warfare in human history, where other groups are seen as sub-human. A country and culture like ours could never have developed under these conditions.

Reply. The Indian Confederacy already established proves you wrong.

They became unified here through a lingua franca (English & French) and Christian culture, where the Catholics were permitted to intermarry with the natives and created a whole new people – the Metis. Same thing with Cortez and the Spanish in Mexico a little earlier. They created a whole new people – Latinos -- who embraced and united under Catholicism and the Spanish language.

Reply. Do you think only Catholics married into aboriginal people, Metis comprises of many mixes. If they have created a whole new people how come they are not recognized.

Should statutes that reflect a bad time in history NOT BE TORN DOWN? Stalin and Lenin and Gadhafi would still be on their pedestals.

Not necessarily. Especially not by mobs of raving-mad pink haired, gender-bending spoiled upper class weirdos who never worked a day in their lives and who are among the most privileged people in the entire history of the world (as they complain about their oppression). These statues are part of our history, and at worst can serve as a stark reminder. We don’t have any statues of Hitler, Stalin or Gadhafi here though. Unless you think our first prime minister is a fellow traveler with such company? Besides, who gets to just take it upon themselves to start destroying things like that, based on their perception of 'bad times'?

Reply. Your painting of the folks who wanted these statutes down is way off.
I see nothing to make me believe we are remotely like a communist regime here. There is not any sharia law here.

    Look harder.

Reply. No need to its does not exist.

They have imported millions into Germany and its still Germany and its still missing statutes to HITLER.

Germany is toast. Rape and violence are at an all-time high, many local terrorist cells, vandalism, attacks on Christmas markets and churches, etc. and a similar malaise among the people that existed after WW1. All because Germans still have this lingering WW2 guilt and decided to flood their borders with mostly young Muslim men to somehow atone for things they are not guilty of. Merkel and her globalist allies destroyed the country.

Reply. Rape and violence in Germany is fiction, invented by neo Nazi and fascists', the fact you think Germany is toast is an indication where your leanings are.

    2) ok so what if you proved me wrong? It’s not as bad as you claim.
    3) it’s actually good that it’s even worse than you said, because we did bad things so we deserve it. I’m happy to give up my (*insert specific item or freedom*) for the cause.

Nothing to do with hate stew gilly. What canadaman30 posted was a true and factual statement and in doing so was asking you a legitimate question. You in turn took a page out of your messiah's playback by trying to distract and deflect and even as far as playing the racism card instead of answering his question truthfully assuming you would know the truth if it hit you in the face. Have a great day next.

So as responsible hunters and firearms owners, we have a duty to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Canadian hunters should raise the bar and aim to support the ban on “assault-style firearms” — which have no legitimacy in our hunting gear. We should speak out for our time-honored traditions and legitimate firearms ownership, but also for the greater good and public safety.

Your distain statement towards not agreeing with gun ban, not mine. At least backup your statements towards gun ownership of AR-15s/assault rifles

So what legitimacy do AR-15's have in FN's hunting gear?
I assume by your statement you don't consider them responsible hunters and part of the problem for keeping their assault rifles and not supporting a ban?...

Impact : Had a chance to chew on this article. Interesting conclusion, “ gun violence in all its form has a social context....that context is not something that “mental illness” can explain nor that mental health practitioners can expect to address in isolation.”

So here is my puzzlement, what is the social context of schools that makes them such a prime target for mass shooting? My take on answering that question will ever remains, firearm instruction in schools, providing an effective courses, at all grade levels to address the responsibilities of firearm ownership and use with all that it entails.

They tried that back in the 60s-70s...what that did, was pique interest in guns in a generation of boys that then went on to spent their paper route money buying and collecting of guns.

To this day..most of them can still be found on social media forums talking about guns. HaHa..

You could have looked this up for yourself.

Exceptions are included under the Amnesty Order to allow for the continued use of the newly-prohibited firearms and/or devices (if previously non-restricted) by individuals who hunt or trap to sustain themselves or their families, and by Indigenous persons exercising Aboriginal or treaty rights to hunt. At the end of the amnesty period, all firearm owners must comply with the new law.
