    Default Electric Augers Are Great!

Got out for the first time today. Fishing was crap but the auger worked great. Ice in front of Collins (Long Point Bay) was 8" father out and 6" closer. Started out at the 8" and I drilled 2 holes in less than 30 seconds. A fellow came over and asked to borrow it (guess he forgot his) and he drilled 4 holes in less than a minute. I have a Milwaukee 18V Fuel and a 6" auger, which is plenty for the bay. I moved around a few times and with the borrower drilled 12 holes. When I got home the battery still had full bars. If the ice gets a lot thicker I may need to look into an extension. Overall very happy with this setup. TC

I have a similar set up, with the Clam drill plate. Word of caution when lending your rig, Make sure to tell them not to bang the auger on the ice when starting the hole. Doing that will screw up the angles of your blades, greatly reducing the augers cutting rate….

I agree about the dangers of lending an auger.
I won't do it but will cut a hole for them.

No hammer drill. I have a brushless Dewalt 20v that works fine. I have the Clam adapter and 5 inch Lazer auger…..

Used it again today, works great. I have a Milwaukee Fuel 20v and it has lots of power. I've drilled maybe 20 holes with it through 12" ice and the battery still has all of it's bars. In use I just toggle the drill until the blades start to cut in and then give it hell. 12" of ice in less than 10 seconds. TC
