They are definitely a nice fight they just sort of hold the line until they tucker out a bit.
This one I thought I lost it twice before I realized it was laker it swam up to just below the ice then it was game one .
My friends buddy got one 20 plus pounds this year I have lost a few pigs over the years . Can't even barely lift them off bottom 3 years ago my daughter and I 20 minute battle then the hook popped before I even seen it lol. That was a tournament day too.
This fight was about 10 minutes so it gets the blood flowing.

The tournament started Friday Thursday was my only available day and got this beauty almost 3 ft long at 35 inches also got a few bigger whitties.
As of this morning with leader was at 38.5 inches with a whittie and perch.
Last year I lost my only 2 Lakers I hooked praying for one more I think it will be hardest fish for me . Some years I connect with one every few trips other years not so much as I'm after the whitties.
