Default Spring is in the air

As I look out the window on a cold snowy morning I see a flock of about 10 robins picking through the bushy hedge. Typically will see doves nesting in the porch basket within a week or 2.

We’ve had robins around down here in the SW all winter. Apparently it’s not uncommon any more for them to stick around…

I have seen some doves on warmer days throughout the winter. I guess some didn't go south

Ya there will always be the odd one that goes as far as they need to find food. The group of 10 caught my eye waiting on the pair of doves too show up.

Here, they are eating mountain ash berries and crab apples that are still on the tree…

No signs of robins here, but I guess night time temps of -40 will do that. Tough worm hunting in two feet of snow.

I heard Cardinals singing for the first time today. In my experience once that happens it's not long until the turkeys start gobbling and strutting. TC
