    Default The End

As Mar 1 will mark the day that Ontarioians regained their freedoms from many of the provincial Covid-19 mandates (masks to follow shortly), So let's take one last look at the facts:

Only 8% of Canadians were ever tested positive for Covid-19
    Only 4 % required Hospitalization
Only 0.1% died...84% of which were in the 70+ age group

Covid Data since Jan 2020 to Feb 2022 (25 months)

    Canada: population 38 Million
Total Positive cases of Covid registered ..3.3 Million or 8.4 % of pop .
Total Deaths while positive with Covid : 36,500 or 0.1% (.096% ) of pop

    Ontario: population 15 million
Total deaths while positive with Covid: 12,430 or 0.08% of pop.
Total positive cases registered: 1.1 million or 7.3 % of pop.

    Hospitalizations;

Canada: 131,801 cases (4.1%) were hospitalized, of whom 22,732 (17.2%) were admitted to the ICU
Ontario: Ever hospitalized 41,953… 3.8% of popualtion

Note: We now know that those numbers were inflated (between 40%-60%) due to people being found with Covid after being admitted to hospitals for other issues.

    Percentage of Vaccinations

    Canada: Fully vaxxed (2 shots): 80.4 % Vaccinated (kids 5-11 32%)
    Booster : 45% (55% of 18+)

Ontario: Fully vaxxed (2 shots) : 86% of population
    Booster: 46%

    COST of COVID;

For the first time, spending by all levels of government in Canada surpassed the $1 trillion mark. Spending increased by $267.4 billion from 2019, for a total of $1,069.0 billion in 2020. This was a 33.4% increase from the previous year and the largest recorded increase in Canadian government spending. This was largely a result of the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Social protection, economic affairs, and health care were the largest contributors to spending increases in 2020. Governments in Canada spent $18,574 per person in 2020 in these categories, compared with $12,042 in 2019.

Note: This data was for 2020..there is still 14 month to add to it.. $18,574 per person times 38 million = $ 705,812,000,000..thats 3/4 of a Trillion.

The devastation caused by the Government's response to this pandemic to the economy, education, and businesses (over 100,000 closed in 2020 alone) will continue for years to come. History alone will tell us if it was worth it.

note: All the date quotes above were drawn ONLY from the Government of Canada or Ontario Health websites.

The non vaccinated should thank the vaccinated for the reopening. I know they will never admit it but without the vaccinattion we would still be in some kind of lockdown.

I really have to question the accuracy of that data in relation to the PCR testing that occurred. It seems to me this was a pandemic created by government via a faulty method of testing and is only re enforced in people minds due to the massive government overreach and propaganda bombardment 24/7 by the MSM for a far more nefarious reason. Now that Covid is evaporating the new boogey man is in Ukraine with a lot of tough talk and sanctions from world leaders once again operating in lock step and other similar parallels to Covid. With Trudeau ordering enough shots for Canadians until 2025, premiers continuing Emergency acts, and recent comments by Tam you have to ask yourself is this really over, even if you go by the government data was it really a pandemic and were the measures taken really warranted? This only ends when the people end it, this was never about your health this is/was about Agenda 2021 and Agenda 2030.

"What if" question is timeless. It's one of those things that both sides can argue till the cows come home.

I personally know several pretty healthy and young folks who has done the vaccines and now have new illnesses pop up out of blue, they personally associate it with vaxx, but the is no way prove anything. Also know a couple of families who lost older parents after covid related pneumonia although they were vaccinated.
And yet there are others who done the vaxx, got COVID(against the sales point of "stopping" the spread) and praise the vaxx.

There is simply no one size fits all solution such huge population.that why the mandates and forcing people into doing against their will by stripping ability to provide for their families is an insane IMO..

As the thanking part - an argument could be made that vaxx public should thank the truckers for being out of lockdowns now. If they didn't make so much noise, there is a quite big chance our government would still keep people in lockdowns and enjoy their emergency powers

The reality of it - you will never know the truth because one cannot walk two roads at the same time..

The illegal occupiers of Ottawa deserve no thanks from Ontario. Ford's plans were in place before the protestors arrived in the capital.

More likely the border restrictions, which are idiotic in several respects, will remain in place longer because Trudeau does not want to be seen to be accommodating people who broke the law.

So you are one of the people who has no clue at all what the mandates actually are, this is not the mandatory vaccination for crossing the border but the mandating of "full" vaccinations for anyone in a Federally Regulated Industry, which amounts to about 99.9% of the country. They also did not define "full", therefore if they determine that you need a shot every 2 weeks then that would be required to continue to feed your family in Canada.

This mandate has not been dropped and has not been voted on by the House.

Well, if we talking hypotheticals as suggested by bester, then here is another hypothetical for you:

Yes, Dog Fart was planning to reopen Ontario, but then Omicron came around. Hypothetically, we could have had another Schmomicron[emoji1787] wave at this moment and be in yet another lockdown. Who knows?

What happened, happened - time to move on. And finger cross another round hysteria does not start next fall when the regular flu season comes around. I am sure that our federal government is just praying for it to come so they can claim " they are the protectors of people"

I'm quite familiar with the vaccination and other requirements for cross-border travel as I've lived with them for many months.

I'm also familiar with what a federally-regulated industry is. Federally-regulated industries do not amount to anywhere near 99.9% of the country. The federally-regulated private sector is under a million.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-...te-sector.html

The federally regulated private sector (FRPS) is comprised of approximately 910,000 employees and 18,000 employers whose labour rights and responsibilities are defined by the Canada Labour Code (the Code).

The businesses and industries covered by Part III include banks, air transportation, rail and road transportation that involves crossing provincial or international borders, marine transportation, pipelines crossing provincial borders, feed, flour and seed mills and grain elevators, telecommunications and broadcasting.
The vaccine mandates do not require a vote as they are regulations passed by Cabinet under existing laws.

We don't disagree that it is now time to move on and hope a more severe variant does not strike.

What we should also hope is that Doug Ford is still the Premier this fall. Ford's a long way from perfect but Del Duca and/or Horwath, if elected, would be more likely to lockdown than Ford.
