They will keep sending them ...

I mean they keep abandoning them too.

    and capturing them

An interesting one to check https://twitter.com/UAWeapons

Putin's ego is on the line and his power, he won't be stopped until the balance is against him... economic and political sanctions don't matter to him, it is about his power and his ego, he is probably more pi**** about his black belt title.

Putin is worse than our PM and look at Justlied's use of the emergencies act to squash opposition, the only thing that stopped Trudeau was the fact he couldn't have likely got it through the Senate and would have failed and would have looked stupider. Pride, power and ego and once they are in that position if you look over history tyrants won't back down IF they can maintain power going forward regardless. Success is staying in power and gaining more the goal.

They have lost 29 planes, 191 tanks (looks like UK's gift is doing something useful) + and likely more than 5,000 so far based on reports.

Yeh he comes from a family of warriors his grandfather having been deported for Bavaria for refusing to serve. The reason Trump was so highly sought of by Putin and other despots is he is the same as them. I see he is pretty quiet as of late, not much to add that Putin was a genius for invading a sovereign nation.

Total waste of time and money.
This is coming from someone who served 13 years and instructed recruits.
I know that when I was growing up in the sleepy little village of Glasgow, most of the hard core Neds had a few choices, army, navy, air force (if you had some smarts) or Borstal. Most went into the army and made something of themselves, but the British Forces were very disciplined back in the day. Both my brothers joined the signals regiment, both stationed in Germany and the older one in Libya also up until the British pulled out in 1970. He got a taught as trade as Royal Signals Electrician.

In case of something-God forbid happens, and Canada is in a dire need to defend itself-what is the plan to fill up the ranks then?
    With reasonable trained soldiers.

I mean-we do not have a large army-in any war, soldiers die or get wounded-little army lasts short time.
Not trying to be funny- i am asking seriously.

Not looking for some Top Secret answer.........

Russia has mandatory military service. How's that working out for them lately?

Here's a good article on the subject.

One would have to wonder if their (Russians) hearts are really into this fight !

If you look at the Russian troops with a 1 year conscription, it is not useless, also not a big benefit. In one year with basic training, time off, holidays etc., a basic shooting course is several more weeks, time disappears fast and all you have done is you have just produced cannon fodder, not a soldier. The benefits of a required high school course that taught them the essentials to handle a firearm, cook, survive would produce just as many if not more benefits than 1 year.

There have been large protests with thousands arrest and dragged away in many Russian cities, we will see how it plays out for him but as former KGB he probably has a good control on power.

Tens of millions of dollars burning and destroyed... being used by men with a few months training on them sent to serve a tyrant and die.

I seriously doubt it. They are fighting on the mostly Russian speaking side of the Ukraine.
Many Russian citizens have either friends or family in there.
Kharkiv is kinda a "swing state" in 2014. Wouldn't be surprised that the Russian high command was banking to pass through these territories quickly - clearly didn't work out. That why they are re-suppling with units from Caucasus, so there is less emotional ties.

Geez woodsman everywhere I turn there’s people that just “don’t want to be there” it’s the latest reality. I get your point though. I just thought a basic 6 months in the military might go a long way in building positive characteristics in todays youth. At the same time it would be valuable to expose the general population to firearms to make them less taboo.
