    Default Strike Anywhere Matches

You know the ones, they light with a swipe across the front of the fireplace to start your morning fire.

Anyway, they have become very hard to find and from the sound of will be extinct shortly. I couldn't find any at the usual stores (CT, Walmart, Home hardware) and finally, a clerk told me what was happening.

Why..main reason...they are now considered a Hazardous product and suppliers have to pay Hazmat fees to ship them.

So if you use them and see some left over stock in passing, pick them up, they are becoming a thing of the past.

I still have a couple of boxes of them. Who would have thought they would become collector items? LOL
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

It’s funny I was at the camp last weekend and seen 6 new boxes.
I made a mental note to make sure not to get anymore.
Im happy I have them now. Will check CTC if they have more.
Hopefully they review this stupid change.

Not knocking the matches but a good ferro rod and the back of a knife work pretty good.

Those are safety matches not strike anywhere. So you pretty much need the box to light them and in my experience half of the time they still don’t light

Strike anywhere matches were literally “anywhere”. Even your front teeth would work

Haven’t found good ones in years and have resorted to bbq lighters these days. But get lots as 1/2 of them are garbage as well

As luck would have it, I was in the TSC (Pervy) in Brockville the other day and took a look in the Camping Section and low and behold, they had some 'Strike Anywheres'.

In fact they had them on Clearance Sale as discontinued stock for only $3.50 (2 box/pk)....so I picked up a bunch (5 pkg 10 boxes).

That should last me another 10 yrs ..LOL.

Can Tire in Kanata has 275 in stock.....

I just emptied one of the larger boxes of Redbirds I have around the house. Guess I'll stock up...I have about $30 in Can Tire money right now...

As one poster mentioned though, the newer "strike anywhere" matches aren't nearly as good as the Eddylites were 20-30 years ago. Try striking a redbird off the zipper on your jeans or coat....the eddylites always worked.
"Camo" is perfectly acceptable as a favorite colour.
