    Default Torpedo Diver trolling weights?

    Hey folks,

Anyone use these with success? What has you experience been like? Looking to use them as an alternative to a down-rigger for back lakes trout from a kayak or canoe...

    Thanks

I’ve used them in Erie. They work great. You can adjust the fins to get your line out away from the boat. But we troll at 2.5 to 3 mph. From a canoe, I would think a snap weight or tadpole would be just as effective.

I use the dipsey divers, they come in different sizes. I have tried trolling them from a canoe but they create a lot of drag. I have had better success in a canoe with a weighted bottom bouncer. Speed in spring is around 1-2mph as the fish are sluggish, in summer when the water warns up a bit faster up to 3mph.
